Wedding Gift
 |
|
It is traditional for you to give the
married couple a wedding gift when you are invited to someone's wedding. It does
not have to be something expensive or grand, many people usually take house
gifts such as toasters, kettles, plate sets and glasses. The couple often
prepare what is called a wedding list which is where they make note of all the
things that they need or want and the main guests such as mothers, fathers
sisters, brothers and other family members all put together and get the gifts of
the list, friends usually bring their own gifts.
A wedding gift can be anything! It does not need to be one of the gifts on the
wedding list. It can be a home product, a pamper products or even a holiday.
Gifts are given to the couple by everyone though, so don’t forget yours. They
aren’t opened at the wedding they are taken home and than the bride and groom go
through them alone. So if you don’t get a massive gift than no one will know.
It isn’t the best idea to take the gifts to the wedding; gifts can easily be
damaged or misplaced. Remember, the last thing on the couple's mind that night
will be gathering up gifts. It could easily be left behind. Send the gift to the
address on the registry or the RSVP address on the wedding invitation. Etiquette
says that it is a nice gesture to send a gift whether or not you plan on
attending.
It is not only guests that give gifts though, the couple are to give gifts as
well, the parents are to get one as a thank for raising you and that you will
not forget them when you have your own family. If you will be having a large
wedding party, it is oftentimes a better idea to choose two gifts - one for the
males and one for the females - and buy them in bulk, that way it keeps the
costs down and if you are having a smaller wedding than invest in a somewhat
more personalized gifts as this is not too expensive when there are not a lot of
people to cater for.
Weddings aren’t all about gifts though but it is nice to celebrate this day just
as you celebrate every other special day, birthdays, valentines and Christmas.
All are celebrated with gifts and a wedding should be no different!
