Selecting a Pro for Your
Wedding Photography
 |
|
There are some tasks on your wedding
checklist that you can choose to perform at a lesser standard. Deciding which
tasks fall into this category takes a bit of judgment and skill. One aspect of
your wedding that you definitely don't want to skimp on is wedding photography.
Unless you can stand the risk of having a wedding album full of headless images,
make sure your wedding photography plan includes someone who has experience with
photographing weddings.
To select someone to provide your wedding photography, it is a good idea to
interview a few and then make a selection. You may feel that you are not
qualified to conduct such an interview. If you don't know anything about wedding
photography, a photographer could literally tell you anything and you would be
forced to almost believe it. Instead of showing your ignorance, ask the
potential photographer questions, particularly what equipment they typically use
for wedding photography. You should also do your homework. Perform a quick
search on the Internet and find out what is standard equipment for wedding
photography. Also research enough so that what the photographer tells you isn't
completely foreign to you. The photographer will also appreciate your interest
in his or her topic of interest.
Typical wedding photography includes shots of the wedding party. One option is
to schedule a wedding photography shoot before the wedding ceremony and display
the pictures at your wedding reception. With this option your wedding party is
prepared and in order. If you choose to have the wedding photography shoot of
the wedding party after the wedding ceremony, there is the issue of bad weather
if the wedding is held outdoors or other issues popping up. Make sure the
wedding photography you hire is flexible and is prepared in case the venue
changes. Most professional photographers will be prepared, but it is a good idea
to make sure ahead of time.
Wedding photography like most aspects of a wedding is built on tradition. The
tradition is to provide the bride and groom an album and proofs. If you are
interested in more pictures or have a wedding photography idea, talk to the
photographer about it. They may be willing to make changes to what they offer
without charging you extra. Also ask the cost of additional wedding photography
opportunities that may become available. If Oprah happens to stop by for your
wedding, you want to make sure the photographer will snap a picture of her with
you and other members of your wedding party.
